INTRODUCTION
People have always
been interested in dreams and look for the meaning.
Dreams are like roots that reach down into the nourishing
depths of the earth of our souls, and help energy flow
upward so our growth and development are possible. Most
people pay little or no attention to their dreams and
dismiss them lightly. Our forefathers knew the value of
dreams in healing and we can return to their practices
and recover our lost heritage. All major religions have
viewed dreams as a way to get intimations of the future,
and guidance and conformation from greater than human
powers. We see this interest from the beginning of
Christianity, Buddhism and all the great religions of the
world, as also, in modern psychology when Freud and Jung
showed dreams labs and now so many fields have
contributed to the knowledge we have about dreams.
In Section I we limit our
look to the importance of dreams in Christianity and then
the contributions of Freud and Jung.
Section 2 looks at the
meaning of dreams and healing : Asklepius, Senoi tribe,
and in today, bringing social change.
Section 3 gives techniques
to use in getting the meaning of dreams.
Section 4 contains case
studies on dreams and healing.
Section 5 is on other aids
in dreamwork : Dreamgroups, working with partners,
psychodrama and artwork/mandalas.
