As the monsoon has arrived in the country and the temperature is lowering, there may be a possible increase in swine flu or H1N1 cases. There have already been few incidences recorded in the State and this calls for alertness among us for its prevention.
Here are few tips for preventing H1N1 infection and at the same time enjoying the monsoon.
Wash your hands properly
Always wash your hands - use soap and water immediately after coughing or sneezing, or after touching anything or anyone suspect.
Washing your hands prevents the growth and spreading of viruses and bacteria.
There is a correct method to wash our hands. Here are few simple steps:
Use warm water (not cold or hot).
Use any soap you like but antibacterial soaps are more effective.
Rub your hands together vigorously and scrub all surfaces: Lather up on both sides of your hands, your wrists, between your fingers, and around your nails. Wash for 15 seconds.
Rinse well under warm running water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Maintain Hygiene
Always cover your mouth or nose when you sneeze or cough. Use a tissue or handkerchief.
f you are sick then stay at home and avoid contact with other people.
You can wear face masks if H1N1 or other flu viruses are spreading in your area, to minimize your exposure.
Avoid contact with infected persons.
Keep your home and surroundings clean as to avoid collection of bacteria and viruses.
Do not share your personal things with an infected person.
Eat well and sleep well
Eat proper and healthy food with fresh fruits and green vegetables. Fruits and vegetables absorb a lot of toxins.
Drink plenty of water, atleast 8-10 glasses.
Stop eating out. Prefer having home- made food.
